Both our 3-piece and 4-piece urethane programs use a cast thermoset polyurethane (CPU) cover. The CPU process involves pouring liquid polyurethane components into a mold and allowing them to cure through a chemical reaction at controlled temperature. The result is a thermoset polymer that does not remelt under heat — a fundamentally different process from injection-molded TPU covers.
The CPU casting line requires dedicated equipment, precise catalyst ratios, and temperature-controlled curing. This is distinct from standard injection-molding equipment used for TPU. The process is more labor-intensive and requires tighter process control, which is part of what distinguishes CPU-cover golf balls in the premium segment.
