Existing golf brands usually need more than a list of ball constructions. They need to decide which model fits an existing customer base, retail price architecture, packaging system, and repeat-order plan.
Define whether the new ball will be the main high-performance SKU, a premium upgrade above an existing model, a replacement for a current supplier's product, a channel-specific or limited program, or part of a two-SKU 3-piece and 4-piece line. The role should be clear before artwork and packaging move forward. A model selected without a defined role can create positioning conflicts when the product reaches retail or distribution channels.
A 3-piece urethane construction can be a practical main SKU for brands seeking a balanced performance story and straightforward retail positioning. It can also provide a clearer starting point for sample evaluation and repeat-order specification control. Any performance statement must be tied to the exact model and available evidence. See 3-Piece Urethane Program and Robot Test Data for the current evidence scope.
A 4-piece urethane construction can be considered where the brand needs a flagship tier, more differentiated multilayer construction, or a product above its main 3-piece offer. It should not be positioned as automatically better. Sample evaluation and SKU-specific evidence are required before making performance claims. See 4-Piece Urethane Program for construction details.
Prepare the following information before requesting a model-selection review: current product lineup and target price tier; customer profile and sales channels; any reference product or performance priorities; existing logo, packaging, and barcode system; estimated first order and replenishment plan; and requirements for repeat-order consistency. Brands with an established packaging system should confirm whether the new ball format fits existing sleeve and box dimensions before finalizing the model.
The approved construction, artwork, packaging, and evidence references should be recorded as a controlled project specification. Robot-test results from one 3-piece SKU must not be applied to a different construction or 4-piece model. Each model should have its own sample approval record, evidence file, and retail-claim boundary. This protects the brand from compliance risk and ensures that reorder batches match the approved reference.
